In this article I'm going to learn the problem of diversity in the United States as the USA represents a bright example of multicultural country.

While staying in Boston, MA we attended The Muriel S. Snowden International School at Copley. There I interviewed some of the students of High School; the topic was "Diversity in the USA". Here I want to show you what American teenagers think about different races and nationalities in their country.

Totally I have six surveys with students' answers. Almost all the students interviewed say that they have ethnical problems in their country. Among the problems most of them answered that racism is the main one. This problem has always existed in America; it is very topical for this country.

Speaking about the communities American students think that there are rich and poor communities in their country. We have the same thing in Russia.

Speaking about advantages and disadvantages of communicating between members of different ethnic groups students answered that the advantages are:

  • learning new things about other culture;
  • meet different people;
  • make new friends.

And the disadvantages are:

  • different languages so sometimes they can't understand each other;
  • people can fight (???).

Such an attitude shows that teenagers in America are interested in discovering new things but they are afraid of misunderstanding. This is topical not only for American teenagers but for the majority of young people all over the world.

100% of the students interviewed consider that different races and nationalities should not be separated; they are equal and should be together.

Generally American teenagers do not seem to worry a lot about the problem of diversity in their country. At school they learn the Declaration of Independence; they know their rights. They know that the development of American history has always included the development of the problem of diversity.
